  Overall, it was a good movie. Good actors for the parts, great effects, a lot of the scenes were how I had pictured them in my mind. I'm so dissapointed in the changes to the plot, though. My friends who haven't read any of the books loved it. I felt a little cheated. The opening credits cracked me up, and the word for word dialogues about the guide were a thumbs up. We'll discuss more after you see it.

    No surprises for me. I've read about all the changes so I'm prepared. What's good to know too is that Douglas Adams made most of the changes himself shortly before his death. He'd been trying to make the movie for years. They used a lot of his ideas for the different characters and scenes (like the paddles).

      have yet to see it...things fell through on friday. anyway...is it a blend of the series of books or is it mainly focused on hg? i heard it was good...but that's mostly from people who never read the books.

        It's based on the first book only..ending with the line about knowing a good restuarant...BBC news has an article about a "trilogy" of movies to come...

  Saw it. Loved it. The differences from the previous incarnations were a little jarring, but the little easter eggs made up for it.
  
  I'm looking forward to seeing it again. I might even buy the DVD

    saw it opening night. think they did a rather good job considereing... have seen so many good books slaughtered on the screen.
    can't by the very nature, complexity of literature to film, and depth of the book/ideas be all inclusive...

  i read all of the books and i loved this movie. we went to a sneak preview and wore our towels. we went to see it again. the boy i went both times with didn't read the books but he wants to. a couple little dissapointments but it was great.
